Event Description

Workshop will help community-based environmental groups

Members of community-based environmental groups can trade experiences and learn new ideas at a one-day workshop to be held in Ancaster on March 31. The workshop, called Sharing Experiences, is open to residents and groups from the Grand River watershed and is sponsored by the GRCA, along with other conservation authorities and stewardship councils in the Greater Golden Horseshoe area.

It runs from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and will be held at the main office of the Hamilton Conservation Authority, 838 Mineral Springs Rd., Ancaster.

Topics include the best use of social media, how to obtain funding, planning for public lands and engaging multicultural communities.

The event is free but space is limited so advance registration is required. Register online at sharingexperiences.eventbrite.ca or contact Jaime Overy at 905-525-2181 Ext. 165 or by e-mail at jovery@conservationhamilton.ca

The workshop will provide an opportunity for members of existing groups, or those interested in starting a new group, to learn from one another and get some tips on how to be more effective. Presentations from local environmental groups will highlight the steps they took to successfully plan and implement projects.
