A Bit Long Pep Talk...

Hey Guys,

First off I would like to once again give an olive branch to Mustard Festival people who are members of Fix Our World. All I have to say is, we salute you!

Secondly, I'm speaking to you not on behalf of Fix Our World. But as a person who wants to fix our world in any way I can for the benefit of humanity.

When my dad first came to Canada in 1968 from the Philippines. He had nothing but a suitcase. Back then he was sleeping in High Park in Toronto, going through Yonge Street, trying to get anything he can to get a job. When he moved to Hamilton, his first job was at a courthouse. He had to walk through Ontario Avenue to the couthouse downtown in the cold wintery day.

But he never gave up on his goals! At the same he was studying at McMaster in Engineering, and he graduated with flying colours. Peter George was the professor back then. After university, he took working with the city of Hamilton, and became Project Manager for 25 years. One of his projects was Red Hill Creek, and despite all the protests, his attention to detail and assessment was perfect.

When he came back to the Philippines over 35 years after he left for Canada my dad was in tears. He never saw so much poverty, slum, and dirty sewage. I mean this is where he grew up! It like trying to look down the dark hole when discovered the light. It's a long way down.

What I trying to say is, our festival is completely different from the festivals before. It is different because it creates ideas and solutions. Even though we are in a transition stage, we are getting there. One inch at a time. Just like my dad, he never gave up on his goals. We won't give up on our goals.
