Here's the write up for the May 3rd course.

Spring Edibles and an intro to foraging:
Come and learn the basics of foraging. From wild teas and edible spring leaves, to Carolinian ecology as it relates to foraging, we will learn of some of the most delicious edibles available at this time of year, and how to find them. You'll walk out of this course with good ingredients to add to your spring mix salads for May 24 weekend, and learn of a fantastic addition to a nice BBQ'd steak. This workshop will include a one hour introductory lecture to foraging and a two hour educational hike. Wear boots, and dress for the weather. A notepad, camera and paper bag will come on handy.

Hi Linda,

The hike will begin and end at the Cherry Hill gate off of Plains Road W in Burlington.

To get there from Dundurn Castle, take York road 2.5 km W until it turns into plains road. Continue on plains for 1km. Cherry hill gate parking lot will be on your left hand side (the north side of the street), across from the RBG nature sanctuary.

A map can be found here: http://www.rbg.ca/Document.Doc?id=122

Hope this helps. I will give you a shout tomorrow to ensure that you recieved this email and that the directions make sense. Hope alls well!

Take care,

Kyle

Do we simply show up there at 6:30pm and pray that people will be there and that we will all know each other or what? Please email me specifics at followyah@gmail.com so we can confirm.

Hi Linda,

Sorry to have taken so long to get back to you regarding the hike. Due to the storm a few weeks ago I have been working regular overtime in order to clean up the urban mess that was left behind by mother nature.
As far as my availability is concerned, I can do two dates, and have decided to hold the hike at Tiffany Falls in Ancaster, as it is on bus routes, is easily accessible and is a beautiful location.
I am suggesting we do the hike on Tuesday August 27th at 6:30pm. I figure there is enough time in the next two weeks for everyone that is interested to make plans to attend the hike, and the city's need for arborists will be scaled back, meaning I likely won't be working late.
Thanks a lot for your diligence and patience. If there are any concerns about the time, I'm sure we could arrange for the Thursday of that week as a raincheck.
Thanks for being great and for all the work you do!
Take Care,
Kyle
